Donald E. Jump, Certified Public Accountant has been in the practice of public accounting since 1972. He spent three years in the United States Navy from 1966 to 1969, thereafter attending college under the G.I. bill and graduating from Rider University with a Bachelors degree in Accounting. He is a member of the Monmouth/Ocean County Chapter of the New Jersey State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He is a past president of the South Jersey Chapter of the National Association of Accountants. He is also a member of the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) and the Affordable Housing Association of Certified Public Accountants (AHACPA).

Mr. Jump has taught accounting and auditing classes as an adjunct professor at Rider University and Ocean County College and the auditing session of a CPA Coach Course for a national concern. Mr. Jump has served as a speaker of PHA Finance on auditing and accounting issues unique to Housing Authorities. He has also served as a speaker on auditing and accounting topics at conventions for the international accounting organization of JHI and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, as well as for various local organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce, the Small Business Administration Workshop, the Bankers Association, the Bar Association, Monmouth College, Ocean County College and numerous private organizations.

Mr. Jump’s past experience is predominantly in the audit side of the profession. He began his career with one of the “Big Eight” accounting firms and quickly advanced to the level of audit manager before starting his own firm in 1979. Although his early years in the profession included the audits of companies registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission he currently balances his client service between the governmental (housing authorities) and not-for-profit area, and privately held commercial entities. In addition to being the first reviewing partner on public housing and other audit clients, he is the second reviewing partner on all audits of the firm. The second reviewing partner is not responsible for such things as client billing, but he is required to conduct a complete review of all of the engagement workpapers and financial statements prior to issuance as well as all regulatory filings including REAC submissions. Additionally, before becoming a partner with the Firm, he was a designated post-issuance reviewer of the financial statements of governmental and not-for-profit organizations with a National accounting firm.

He is also actively involved in the peer review process, which is a requirement of all firms that are members of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). The quality controls for the audit and accounting practice of the firms are reviewed at least once every three years by an independent review team of their peers, who are trained and approved by the AICPA. Mr. Jump is not only responsible for our firm’s system of quality control, but he also serves as a trained and approved team captain for the AICPA to review the quality control of other accounting firms.

Mr. Jump is a past President of the New Jersey State Board of Accountancy, which is a twelve member Board appointed by the Governor of New Jersey. The Board is responsible for the licensing, education and ongoing monitoring of the State’s twenty thousand plus accountants. The twelve members of the Board are made up of seven Certified Public Accountants. As a board member, it is Mr. Jump’s responsibility to protect the public by assuring that CPA’s maintain current licenses and ongoing continuing education while adhering to the highest ethical standards. He is also Chairman of the Community Medical Center Foundation, member of the Community Medical Center Board and past president of numerous professional, civic and charitable organizations.

Don is actively involved with various community organizations such as Kiwanis, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, CMC Foundations, YMCA, 21 Plus, and the United Way . He resides in Toms River, New Jersey with his wife Betty. Don spends his spare time with a number of sports including golf, tennis, running and sailing. His son, Don, lives in the Washington D.C. area.
